FOUR FINALISTS ANNOUNCED IN UT KNOXVILLE’S CHANCELLOR SEARCH

The University of Tennessee-Knoxville has narrowed the search for its next chancellor to four finalists:

  • Donde Plowman, executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
  • Brian Noland, president of East Tennessee State University
  • William Tate, dean of the graduate school and vice provost for graduate education at Washington University in St. Louis
  • Bill Hardgrave, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Auburn University

Wayne Davis has served as interim chancellor since Beverly Davenport was dismissed in May 2018.

The four candidates will participate in meetings with campus leaders, key faculty, staff and students, and will engage in campus public-forum sessions April 16 through 18. Plowman’s forum will be Tuesday, April 16, from 2:30-3:30 at the Student Union Auditorium. Noland’s will be Wednesday, April 17, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Student Union Auditorium. Tate’s will be Thursday, April 18, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Student Union Auditorium. Hargrave’s will be Thursday, April 18, from 3-4 p.m. at Room 101 in Strong Hall.

The fora will be streamed live on the search website for UT faculty, staff and students, as well as archived for viewing by the general public at the conclusion of the search. Feedback opportunities will be available on the search website when interviews begin.
