FREEZE WARNING ISSUED AGAIN FOR CUMBERLAND PLATEAU AREA
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for the counties of Cumberland, Pickett, Clay, Putnam, Overton, Fentress and White. The warning goes into effect at 2 a.m. tomorrow morning (Thursday, April 16, 2020) and is set to expire at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. This will make the second consecutive morning a freeze warning has been issued for the same areas. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
The remainder of the coverage area is under a frost advisory for the early morning hours (2 a.m. until 8 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2020)
