FULL DETAILS OF DEADLY CRASH IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY WITH FATALITIES IDENTIFIED

The identities of the three fatalities in Friday afternoon’s deadly crash in Cumberland County have been released. Killed in the wreck were 44-year-old Erik S. New of Tullahoma, 60-year-old Noel Feliciano of Winchester, VA, and 50-year-old Nancy E. Tooley of Thompkinsville, KY. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says that New was driving a 2000 Peterbilt truck in the eastbound left hand lane of I-40 shortly after 1:30 PM when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the median into the westbound lanes at the Genesis Rd area at exit 320. The Peterbilt struck Tooley’s 2016 Nissan Sentra, traveling westbound, causing it to go airborne. The vehicle then rolled coming to rest in the grassy area right of the westbound shoulder. The truck tractor then struck a Freightliner car hauler driven by Feliciano head-on. Both trucks then came to rest in the middle of the westbound lanes where they burst into flames. A fourth vehicle driven by 46-year-old Dwight A. Crosswhite swerved into the median to avoid the crash but then struck several pieces of debris. Both Crosswhite and a passenger were unharmed. A passenger in the Nissan, 66-year-old Jack E. Tooley, was injured and airlifted to UT Medical Center by Lifestar for unknown injuries. TDOT closed down a portion of that roadway for several hours while traffic could be rerouted through Crossville.
