FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS ANNOUNCED FOR FORMER ROANE COUNTY SHERIFF DAVID HAGGARD
Sheriff David B. Haggard, age 73, of Rockwood, passed away September 3, 2020 at his residence. Sheriff Haggard was a dedicated Roane County public servant for over 40 years starting in 1968, including service at the Rockwood Police Department, the Kingston Police Department, the Roane County Sheriff’s Office, and also served as Sheriff of Roane County from 1993 until 2006. He was a member of the Harriman Church of God and the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association. He was preceded in death by his parents: Eddie Woodrow Haggard and Mary Elizabeth Matthews Haggard; brother: Larry Edward Haggard; and father-in-law: Luther “L.B.” Townley. Survivors include his wife of 27 years: Angela Haggard; brother: Daniel L. Haggard (Regina Ann) of Karns; niece: Jennifer Lee Dawson (Jeff) of Karns; great nieces: Bindi Lee Dawson and Lola Danielle Dawson; mother-in-law: Mary Townley of Kingston; sisters-in-law: Rhonda Townley of Kingston and Darla Kolski (Ed) of Kingston; niece: Jessica Myers (J.T.) of Harriman; great niece: Emmerson Myers; nephews: Quentin Kolski of Kingston and Brody Kolski of Kingston; and a host of many friends and law enforcement family. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 12, 2020 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Harriman Church of God; 3106 Roane State Highway; Harriman, TN 37748. A Celebration of Life service will follow at the Harriman Church of God. Committal services and interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery; 699 E. Strang Street, Rockwood with law enforcement honors.
