FUNERAL SERVICES FOR CROSSVILLE K-9 POLICE OFFICER CAIN TO BE HELD
The Crossville Police Department says a funeral service for a fallen K-9 officer could be held late next week in the area of Thursday, August 10, 2017. According to Captain Larry Qualls, other K-9 programs from across and around Tennessee have expressed a desire to come to the service for K-9 Officer Cain. Cain was killed in the line of duty yesterday morning (Wednesday, August 2, 2017) in the apprehension of 28-year-old Dustin Lee Dixon. Dixon is facing numerous charges including the intentional killing of a service animal in relation to the incident.
Captain Qualls told 105.7 News this morning (Thursday, August 3, 2017) that several children brought flowers to the K-9 program officers last night in memory of Cain. Several people have asked through social media about making donations towards the K-9 program in memory of Cain. Those donations can be taken to the Crossville Police Department. An official announcement of Cain’s funeral service is expected to be made in the next couple of days.
Currently, the Crossville Police Department has four K-9 officers on duty while two others serve with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.
