A memorial service for Garrett (Gary) R. Laura, age 71, of Crossville, will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 151 St. Alphonsus Way, Crossville, Tennessee 38555. In lieu of flowers, per Gary’s wishes, donations may be made to the Friends of Tennessee School for the Blind, 2835 Blue Brick Drive, Nashville, Tennessee 37214 Attn: Ralph Brewer. Gary was a United States Navy veteran who served our country during the Vietnam War. Gary loved to be involved in the community, especially the Crossville Lions Club, where he was a member for 15 years, serving as president for five years. He was involved with the Cumberland County Playhouse and was a lifetime member of the Master Gardeners in Tennessee. Gary enjoyed volunteering at the Crossville Railroad Club. Gary and his wife, Eileen, are also the district representatives to Tennessee School for the Blind for the state. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Eileen Laura; sons, Timothy Laura (Trish) and Michael Moore (Louise); daughter-in-law, Paula Laura; grandchildren, Sean, Logan and Tyler Laura, Ashley and Ryan Laura, Gabrielle, Brendan and Alexandra Moore, all of Michigan; brother, Michael Laura of California; sister, Darlene Poplawski of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
