GENTRY BROTHERS WEEKEND AUCTION NETS OVER $1 MILLION FOR PONZI VICTIMS
Agents with the U.S. Marshal Service say that this past weekend’s auction at the former Gentry Brothers Tractor Supply in Sparta was a big success. In fact, they say it set attendance records. Business owner Jeff Gentry has pleaded guilty to money laundering and wire fraud in a Ponzi scheme that netted him millions from several investors. Over 600 lots were sold at the auction which raised just over $1 million. Several pieces of land will be sold later through a realtor. All the money collected will be distributed out to the victims of the swindle. Gentry is scheduled to be sentenced in November.
