The GoFundMe campaign established for Gena Whaley has surpassed its stated $8,000 goal.

As of this morning, the campaign stands at $8,125. This will enable the Cumberland County High School junior’s family to start on the long road toward her double lung transplant.

As the founder of the campaign stated, “It’s not nearly enough to pay for everything, but will at least get her into surgery!”

Gena, who is 16, suffers from cystic fibrosis. Two years ago, her condition worsened to the point where she can no longer participate in the physical activities she loves – including swimming and tennis.
