GOFUNDME UP FOR FUNERAL EXPENSES FOR 18-YEAR-OLD KILLED IN HARRIMAN

Late this morning (August 20, 2018), 18-year-old Juan Barrios was killed after jumping off the Harold Wester Bridge on West Hills Drive in Harriman.

Juan’s family is absolutely devastated by his loss. His parents, Rose and Keith Duvall, do not have life insurance on Juan and will need help with funeral expenses that will cost thousands. They will also have lost time from work due to this tragedy. They recently moved to Harriman Tennessee and do not have family in the area.

Harriman Police Chief Kenny Humphrey established a GoFundMe account this afternoon to help with the funeral expenses.

The following statement is on the account:

“No one, especially not a wonderful family like this, should be alone in this fight. It’s time for the good people of East Tennessee and beyond to show this family that we as a community stand together with them in their time of need. Our goal with this is to do anything we can to help this family, to help them move on from this tragedy. We would also appreciate if you share this page with friends and family to draw light to the issue of suicide and what it leaves in its wake. Everyone’s life has value and purpose, even if it may not feel that way. Speak up, speak out, and raise up those that are in need. There is always hope.”
