A 21-year-old Crossville woman was taken into custody last week after deputies say she used a fake twenty-dollar bill to buy items at a local convenience store.

Gracie Ann Miller was arrested on August 21, 2026, and charged with passing a forged instrument following an incident at a store located on Sparta Highway.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the store owner contacted authorities on August 21 to report the fraudulent currency. The owner stated that the incident occurred two days prior on August 19, when two women entered the shop together.

Surveillance footage reviewed by Deputy Shane Henderson showed one woman placing a personal pizza on the counter before exiting. A second woman, later identified as Miller, then approached the register with two Bootlegger drinks and handed the clerk a twenty-dollar bill. When the clerk grew suspicious and began inspecting the money, Miller quickly fled the store and drove away in a black Ford Explorer.

Investigators utilized automated Flock security cameras to track the vehicle using its distinctive features and license plate, eventually matching the SUV to Miller. Deputies subsequently secured a warrant, and Miller was arrested later that afternoon.

She is currently facing a general sessions court date on October 5, 2026, and was being held on a $2,500 bond.
