HARD FREEZE ON CUMBERLAND PLATEAU FOR HALLOWEEN NIGHT

It will be very cold tonight for Halloween.

The National Weather Service says we can expect the low temperature in Cumberland County and parts of the plateau to be around 20, with winds gusting up to 25 miles an hour. It will set up a chill factor feeling around 5 degrees.

In Roane County and points east, the low tonight is projected to be in the mid-20s with light winds.

If you have to be out this evening, be sure to bundle up.

Don’t forget to check on other people, especially those most vulnerable.

Bring your pets inside.

Cover any sensitive plants that must remain outdoors.

Be sure to insulate exposed pipes, disconnect water hoses, and turn off water to sprinklers. Open up sink cabinets to expose pipes to heated air.

Freezing temperatures will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
