HARRIMAN HOUSE FIRE DISPLACES FAMILY OF FIVE
A house fire at 160 Childs Road in Harriman displaced a family of five, according to Assistant Fire Chief John Johnson of the Harriman Fire Department. The fire was reported around 1:30 PM on Monday. The home is located just past the McDonald’s and adjacent hotel, around a curve to the right.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke and flames. Crews extended approximately 1,000 feet of hose from the McDonald’s area to the home to begin extinguishing the fire. No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross was contacted to provide temporary shelter for the family.
Assistant Chief Johnson expressed gratitude to the Rockwood and Kingston Fire Departments for their assistance. Fire crews remained on the scene until around 7:00 PM to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. Childs Road was closed to through traffic during the firefighting efforts and subsequent investigation.
