HEROIC ACTIONS BY DANIELS SAVES TWO LIVES IN VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN ROANE COUNTY

“A fiery two vehicle crash last Thursday (June 23, 2020) on Paint Rock Ferry Road near Cherokee Middle School in Kingston resulted in two injured. The accident involved a pick-up truck and a Michael Dunn transport van. A nearby resident was able to pull Shayla Wright and Shannon “Nikki” Laster from the wreckage of the van before it burned up. Caster was flown to U.T. Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the truck, Andrew Leach, stated he had a sudden steering issue that caused it to veer into the path of the van.”

This was the original story that was seen on 1057news.com late last week.

What was not reported in the original was the identity of the hero who saved the two women.

1057 News can confirm who he is now.

The Michael Dunn Center says he is Preston Daniels and officials say the two ladies are alive today because of Daniels fast actions.

Here is his account according to Michael Dunn officials of what happened:

“He heard the crash and ran toward it. Daniels said the vehicle caught fire instantly. He tried to get the doors of the van open and couldn’t. He could see the staff (the two women) inside the burning van. He used an object to break a window to gain access into the van. He pulled Shayla out first and then rescued Nikki who was in the back secured in her wheelchair for transport. Daniels also went to the hospital for some cuts and smoke inhalation.”

Heroes just do not come with a cape or out of a comic book…..they are all around us.
