A regular traffic stop turned into a high speed chase around noon yesterday in Cumberland County. A deputy reportedly observed a vehicle on Genesis Road operated by 18-year-old Kendraius Dashawn Brooks of Crossville not wearing a seatbelt. When the officer tried to stop Brooks, the suspect allegedly sped up and turned onto Industrial Boulevard reaching speeds of up to 90 miles an hour and onto Old Jamestown Highway near 100 miles an hour. Brooks later stopped on Highway 127. He was taken into custody for reckless driving, evading arrest and driving without a license.
