A high-speed pursuit starting in Morgan County late yesterday ended in Anderson County with an arrest.

Initial reports state the chase involved New River Highway.

Deputies chased the suspect, 51-year-old Floyd Allen Dalton, Jr. of Knoxville, onto an old mining road near Bill Paterson Lane where the suspect fled into a wooded area.

Dalton reportedly exchanged gunfire with Morgan County deputies.

After Anderson County authorities arrived, Morgan County deputies negotiated with Dalton to surrender.

Law enforcement did not initially release further details of the incident.
