HIGH SPEED CHASE INVOLVING MOTORCYCLE ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY ENDS WITH ARREST
A high speed chase involving Cumberland County deputies and a motorcyclist ended yesterday with an arrest. Officers initially stopped 35-year-old William Ronald Montayne of Carthage for speeding just off the 322 exit on I-40. As the deputy got out of his cruiser and approached Montayne, the suspect sped off and got on I-40 westbound reaching speeds of up to 125 miles per hour. Montayne got off at the Plateau Road exit and turned onto Baier Road where the chase ended at a dead end of the road. Montayne was charged with reckless driving, evading arrest, manufacture sale and delivery of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
