A high-speed pursuit in Cumberland County yesterday ended with an arrest. Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Austin Tyler John Hofmeister of Crossville on Genesis Road after he reportedly did not halt for a stop sign at Genesis Road and Wayne Avenue. Speeds were reached in excess of 100 miles per hour crossing over I-40 and ending on Fred Ford Road. Hofmeister supposedly got out of the car and yelled he had a gun. He was later taken to the ground and handcuffed. Officers recovered a firearm in Hofmeisters pocket. Officers checked the suspects vehicle that turned up numerous rounds of ammunition, electronic scales and a glass pipe with marijuana residue in it. Hofmeister was arrested for reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of a weapon and drug paraphernalia, evading arrest and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
