HOMEOWNER FIRES SHOTS AT BURGLAR IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Early yesterday morning, deputies in Cumberland County went to a home on the 11,000 block of Highway 68 for an attempted theft. The report states a female in the home went outside to try to get her dog to stop barking when she heard someone take off running. The woman fired six shots from a handgun to scare the burglar off. The suspect got into an older model truck and left. A chainsaw was recovered in the front yard after the incident. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken. The incident is under investigation.
