A stolen vehicle from Monterey was recovered Friday night following a high-speed chase in Cumberland County. Deputies noticed the automobile parked almost behind the Plateau Road Exxon with its parking lights on. As the officer pulled up, the suspect turned his lights on and took off at a high rate of speed. The pursuit went on Plateau Road to Highway 70 North to Old Pomona Road where the vehicle left the road and struck a large stump. A young Caucasian male with short blonde hair as well as a passenger got out and ran into a wooded area. Officers lost track of the two but found something left behind in the vehicle….a cell phone. The incident is under investigation.
