HOMESTEAD ELEMENTARY STUDENT CHARGED WITH MAKING THREATS OF MASS VIOLENCE
A student at Homestead Elementary in Crossville, Tennessee, was charged on April 7, 2026, with making a threat of mass violence after making alarming statements to other students the previous day.
The Cumberland County Schools District Threat Response Team—made up of school officials, Crossville Police Department officers, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and the Office of Homeland Security—worked with the School Threat Assessment Team to quickly investigate.
No weapons were located, and authorities confirmed that no students were ever in danger. Thanks to the swift response, the school remained open with no lockdowns or interruptions to normal operations.
The juvenile suspect has been charged under Tennessee Code Annotated 39-16-517 for making a threat of mass violence on school property.
Officials from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Crossville Police Department, and Cumberland County Schools urged the community, students, and staff to report any suspicious or threatening behavior related to schools or public buildings, emphasizing their commitment to investigating every threat to keep students and citizens safe.
