The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a murder. The body of 30-year-old Austin Shane Lewis was found in a home at 436 Neverfail Road last night after a welfare check was requested. Lewis passed way from an apparent gunshot wound. It is early into the investigation and little information can be released at this time. The victim will be sent to the State of Tennessee’s Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for autopsy. More information will be released as it becomes available.

The sheriff’s department report is as follows:

“A deputy was dispatched to 436 Neverfail Road in reference to a welfare check on Austin Lewis. While en route, dispatch notified thge deputy Lewis had two outstanding warrants. Upon arrival, two deputies walked down the driveway towards the home and noticed the front door open. The door appeared to have been forced open. The deputy entered the residence and found Lewis on the floor of the kitchen with a gunshot wound to the upper left portion of the chest. No other people or weapons were found in the home. A spent shotgun shell was located on the couch just before entering the kitchen. The scene was secured and an investigator was called to the residence.”
