HONORS AT CUMBERLAND COUNTY B.O.E. MEETING

At a recent Cumberland County School Board meeting, several individuals were celebrated for their remarkable achievements.

Trevor Thompson, a sophomore at Stone Memorial High School leading the pledge at the meeting. Thompson had recently won first place in the indoor IBO World Archery Championship.

Zach Sapp, a senior at Cumberland County High School (CCHS), was recognized for his exceptional musical accomplishments. Over three years, Zach earned a spot in the prestigious East Tennessee State Band & Orchestra Association All-East Honor Band through competitive auditions, serving as assistant principal tuba in his sophomore and junior years. As a senior, he auditioned on tuba, euphonium, and trombone, achieving the highest scores on tuba and euphonium, and a qualifying score on trombone, ultimately serving as principal euphonium. His consistent track record led to his selection for the Tennessee Music Educators Association All-State Honor Band for three consecutive years, marking him as one of ‘Tennessee’s finest musicians’. Beyond music, Zach scored a 34 on the ACT, graduated Suma Cum Laude, and will pursue Music Education at Middle Tennessee State University.

Abigail Grace Lowe, a CCHS junior, was honored for her leadership in the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Having served as Tennessee’s FCCLA Vice President of Community Service and Public Relations, CCHS FCCLA chapter President, and Beta Club Treasurer, Abby Grace was recently elected FCCLA President for the state of Tennessee in March 2025.

Finally, Dr. Emmy McCoy, a dual studies instructor at CCHS, was celebrated for earning her Doctorate in Leadership with a K-12 District Focus from Trevecca Nazarene University, conferred on May 3, 2025. Congratulations to Zach, Abigail, and Dr. McCoy for their outstanding contributions and accomplishments!
