Late Tuesday evening, Cumberland County deputies stopped 25-year-old Kelli Jean  Hyder of Crossville for driving 66 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 70 West. Deputies said Hyder appeared nervous, and her hands were “shaking profoundly” as she handed over her driver’s license.

She refused consent to search the vehicle, at which point K-9 officer Apollo was brought in to assist.

After Apollo alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, deputies found a black plastic measuring spoon with crystal-like residue and a syringe – both of which field tested positive for meth. They also turned up a plastic bottle in the glove compartment, containing what appeared to be fake urine. Hyder said it was there from when she was going to a Suboxone clinic and was smoking marijuana at the time.

Hyder was charged with felony manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth and falsification of a drug-test result. She was placed under $2,000 bond. Hyder is due in court March 11.
