I-75 ACTIVE SHOOTER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

The suspect who allegedly shot at vehicles traveling on I-75 in Ooltewah was taken into custody Thursday. Mathew Derek Henry is charged with reckless endangerment. According to reports, Chattanooga and Hamilton County officers were called to Hunter Road in Ooltewah in response to someone shooting at vehicles from the exit 11 overpass. Video of the suspect was retrieved from a nearby convenience store which revealed Henry sitting beside a building. The video then showed Henry get up and walk towards Henry Road with the weapon in hand. Henry was later found at his residence on Nations Road in Ooltewah. A hostage negotiator was able to talk Henry out of his home. The report stated that Henry told authorities that he used the gun to hunt coyotes and that he suffers from PTSD and ran out of medicine to treat it.
