IDENTITY RELEASED OF MAN WHO DROWN IN DOUGLAS LAKE IN SEVIER COUNTY
Authorities released the name of a man who drowned last night in the Sevier County section of Douglas Lake. Officers recovered the body of 20-year-old Daniel Payne Mills in the lake off of Dyke Road. Authorities say a group of young adults was trying to swim across the lake to the other shore. Mills reportedly started having trouble and went under. His friends tried saving him but were unable to help and called 911. Crews found the victim’s body 30 feet under water and 20 feet from the shore. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says none of the swimmers were wearing life jackets.
