INCIDENT AT HAMILTON PLACE MALL IN CHATTANOOGA CLOSES MALL

Chattanooga police are investigating an incident that took place at Hamilton Place Mall last night. Police say witnesses told officers a fight that started in the parking lot outside Sears continued with a suspect running back inside the mall. Witnesses told officers that suspect was holding a gun. Police say a gun was recovered outside the mall. Police immediately evacuated the mall, but did not catch the suspect. Police reviewed video evidence and determined no shots were fired inside the mall during the incident but several people who were there reportedly say shots were fired. A search for the suspect near the mall started soon after the incident unfolded last night. The mall closed early yesterday and is expected to re-open today.
