INCREDIBLE RAINFALL TOTALS

On Sunday afternoon we saw an incredible band of rain sitting over Northern Cumberland County for several hours and flooding was reported which washed out several roads. Today when all of the Rain gauges reported the totals were incredible with a band of 3 inches or more stretching from Western Cumberland County to just north of Crossville and then into the Fairfield Glade area. The heaviest rain in the entire state of Tennessee in the past 24 hours was a location in Fairfield Glade with over 5 inches and that was from Sunday morning until Monday morning and there was more rain today! More scattered thunderstorms are possible Tuesday but we expect the chances to drop to 30% Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures will gradually climb up into the 80s as the week goes along.

I recently discovered that Thomas Jefferson, one of the founding fathers of the Declaration of Independence and the third president of the United States was very interested in the weather! Jefferson took daily weather readings around Williamsburg Virginia and on July 4th 1776, he went to a local Merchant to purchase a new thermometer before he went to sign the Declaration of Independence. I thought that was really cool! You can reach me anytime at [email protected]
