IT’S TIME TO PICK UP PAPERS TO QUALIFY FOR THE MAY COUNTY PRIMARY

Friday was the first day that potential candidates for the May County Primary Election could pick up qualifying papers. The biggest contest in Cumberland County will be the election for a new county mayor. Picking up papers for that race includes JC Hancock, Robert Scarlett, Ligue Wisdom and County Commissioners Tim Claflin and Allen Foster. Picking up papers for the office of circuit court clerk were Jessica Burgess and Nicholas Neal. Also looking to qualify for county Road Superintendent is incumbent Scott Blalock and Kevin Music. Incumbents County Sheriff Casey Cox, County Trustee Kim Wyatt, County Clerk Jules Bryson and Register of Deeds Judy Graham Swallows all picked up qualifying papers. The deadline for turning in the documents is Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018. The primary will take place on May 1st.
