JASON COLLIER ARRESTED AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE AND RECKLESS DRIVING INCIDENT ON OLD MAIL ROAD
On August 16, 2026, Cumberland County deputies arrested 48-year-old Jason Dean Collier of Crossville following a high-speed vehicle pursuit and subsequent investigation on Old Mail Road.
According to the incident report filed by Deputy Jordan Winningham, the sequence of events unfolded rapidly:
-
Excessive Speed: The deputy observed Collier driving a gray Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Miller Avenue at 68 mph in a 40 mph zone.
-
Near Collision: The suspect’s vehicle swerved into the southbound lane of oncoming traffic, nearly striking a trailing vehicle.
-
Attempted Elusion: After the deputy activated emergency lights, Collier made an abrupt right-hand turn onto Old Mail Road in an apparent attempt to flee, eventually pulling onto a Rogers Group gravel storage property at 505 Old Mail Road.
Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy noted slurred speech and an odor of alcohol. Collier admitted to consuming two beers, though he initially blamed his erratic driving on a medical issue. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded an open, half-empty, cold can of Twisted Tea.
Collier was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center. He faces multiple charges, with a court date scheduled for September 28, 2026:
-
Reckless Driving
-
Public Intoxication
-
Violation of the Open Container Law
-
Speeding
-
Failure to Exercise Due Care
-
Financial Responsibility Law (Failure to Provide Insurance)
