JOSHUA RUBY FACES HEAVY BONDS FOLLOWING MULTI-INCIDENT CRIME SPREE INVESTIGATION
A Cumberland County man, Joshua Bradley Ruby, is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on July 21, 2026, to face multiple felony charges stemming from a string of alleged incidents spanning from late 2025 into early 2026. Total bonds across his pending cases have been set at $300,000.
Court documents and arrest affidavits detail three separate criminal cases involving Ruby, 40, who is being represented by the Public Defender’s Office:
Key Charges and Allegations
-
Aggravated Robbery (Jan. 9, 2026): According to an affidavit filed by Det. Keyton Harthun, a masked man wearing a brown jacket and distinct blue gloves entered the Marathon Gas Station on West Avenue, claimed to have a gun, and threatened to kill the clerk before fleeing with cash. Investigators tied a black Saturn Vue seen at the crime scene to Ruby’s Garrison Lane residence, where officers spotted the matching jacket and gloves inside the vehicle. Ruby was subsequently taken into custody following a standoff involving a patrol car’s P.A. system. (Bond: $150,000)
-
Aggravated Criminal Trespass & Robbery Charges (Jan. 12, 2026): Inv. Sarah Smith reported that during a January 12 incident at the Cumberland Cove Market, security footage from CC Storage LLC showed a suspect driving a black Saturn Vue—accompanied by a black and tan dog—cutting a lock off a security gate with bolt cutters. A search warrant executed on Ruby’s vehicle two days later recovered the bolt cutters used in the break-in. Ruby later admitted the vehicle on surveillance belonged to him. (Bond: $75,000)
-
Aggravated Assault (Oct. 21, 2025): Affidavits also link Ruby to an earlier incident at the Flatrock Motorclub on Motorclub Drive, where he allegedly brandished a firearm in a threatening manner toward a victim. Surveillance video gathered from a nearby Exxon in Westel helped investigators positively identify Ruby as the suspect in January 2026. (Bond: $75,000)
Upcoming Court Proceedings
Ruby’s court docket for July 21 includes an arraignment for the aggravated assault charge alongside deadline hearings for the aggravated robbery and trespass charges.
