UNAPPROVED AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM SPARKS WARNING FROM CUMBERLAND COUNTY OFFICIALS
Local law enforcement and school officials issued a joint press release on Thursday warning parents about an unauthorized business falsely advertising after-school care services at Cumberland County school facilities for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the Crossville Police Department, and Cumberland County Schools, the business in question failed to follow the school district’s mandatory approval process (Board Policy No. 3.206) and was never granted permission to operate at any school site.
Officials clarified that Crossroads Academy is the only business authorized to host an after-school program at a district facility—specifically Cumberland County High School—for the 2026–2027 school year.
Parents who have paid a deposit or holding fee to any other organization claiming to run after-school care out of Cumberland County School facilities are urged to immediately contact the Board of Education, the Crossville Police Department, or the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
