JUDGE SETS TESTIMONY RULES PRIOR TO FATAL CHATTANOOGA SCHOOL BUS CRASH TRIAL

Monday, a judge ruled that testimony that would include prior alleged interactions between Chattanooga school bus driver Johnthony Walker and students, along with his driving conduct, will not be admitted to a jury. The trial is not expected to officially begin until Feb. 27, but testimony concerning those actions has already been revealed. Even though Judge Don Poole made the ruling, he left the door open for those concerns or issues to be re-introduced at another future hearing that would not be heard before a jury. Those complaints ranged from Walker’s statements concerning student’s misbehaving to his alleged driving infractions which included speeding and driving recklessly with children onboard. Walker faces 6 counts of vehicular homicide and numerous other charges. At the hearing, both the prosecution and defense told the judge how they were prepared for the trial. A jury will be selected Friday in Montgomery County, Tennessee, north of Nashville. The trial will begin next Tuesday. Johnthony Walker was working for Durham School Services at the time of the crash. The company is also named in several lawsuits with Walker.
