KENTUCKY CHILD LEFT IN HOT CAR HAD TEMPERATURE OF 113 DEGREES

A mom is facing charges for allegedly leaving her child in a hot car unattended in Pikeville, Kentucky. Police found a 3-year-old boy buckled into his car seat in the back of the car with no adults around and the car not running. There was no air conditioning on when officers arrived. The child reportedly had heavy sweat on his head and entire upper body. The child’s mom returned a short time later. Tina Hamilton, age 30, of Belcher, Kentucky, told police she was in the store getting a prescription filled. According to the arrest citation, first responders took the little boy’s temperature. It was 113 degrees inside the vehicle and 90 degrees after he was taken out of the vehicle. The child was taken to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment. The Division of Protection and Permanency later took custody of the child. Hamilton was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.
