A Nashville man is facing numerous charges following a high speed pursuit involving Oliver Springs police and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. Oliver Springs police was dispatched to Norwood Marathon has station at the 1300^th block of East Tri-County Boulevard to a report of a female asking customers for help after being assaulted and taken against her will. The victim told officers that 48-year-old James G. Hendon of Nashville allegedly assaulted her at her home and talked her into getting in his vehicle. Once inside the vehicle, she asked several times to get out but was refused. The victim eventually told Hendon she had to use the bathroom. That is when they stopped at the gas station but not before he took her cell phone to prevent her from calling police. A man inside the store went out to confront Hendon who then fled the scene in a 2005 grey Toyota SUV. While in route, officers spotted the vehicle and engaged a pursuit. Hendon allegedly passed motorists in a dangerous manner. Officers stopped the pursuit near the garbage dump on Highway 62. While Oliver Springs police continued to interview the victim, they were notified by Morgan County authorities that Hendon was involved in a vehicle accident after being pursued by their deputies. Hendon was transported to U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment of injuries. Hendon was charged with theft of property, reckless driving, third offense of driving on a revoked/suspended license, felony evading arrest and interference with emergency calls. Henson was also wanted for being a fugitive from justice out of Kentucky.
