The City of Kingston has announced events and closures leading up to the 4^th of July celebration.

Today (Monday, July 2, 2018): the Kingston City Park and the Gravel Pit will be shut down at 11 p.m. (This is in preparation for the vendors to set up the next morning).

Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 3, 2018): Any vehicles left in the parks will be towed at the owners’ expense. Vendors will start to set up in the parks on this day.

Independence Day (Wednesday, July 4, 2018): East Race Street (Highway 70) will be shut down at 8 a.m. between Kingston City Park and the little Rocky Top. East Race Street will continue to be closed until the traffic is cleared in town.

In the parks on July 4th: Grills, fireworks and alcohol are prohibited in the parks.

The 4th of July Parade: The parade will take a different route this year (Please see the picture at the bottom of this story). Lineup for the parade will be at Byrd Field off Sevier Ferry Road. The parade will start on east Race Street (Highway 70) at Kingston City Park, travel east along Race Street and end at the little Rocky Top. Vehicles in the parade will be directed to pull out from Sevier Ferry Road and drive toward City Park in the emergency lane. Once they reach City Park, they will start to travel on east Race Street.

The waterways on July 4th: TWRA and law enforcement will start to set up the shutoff boundaries one hour prior to the fireworks (same boundaries as usual). Fireworks will start at dark. Once the fireworks start, no boats will be permitted to pass through the boundaries, for safety reasons. (Please see the attached picture below showing the boundaries).
