KINGSTON CITY COUNCIL APPROVES BRIDGE TO BRIDGE CORRIDOR MASTER PLAN
During the Kingston City Council meeting on Tuesday evening, council members approved the master plan for the bridge-to-bridge corridor improvement project. This plan will put new pavement markings like crosswalks, bicycle lane markings, new signage, and improvements on Highway 70 and 58 from the Clinch River bridge on Highway 70 on the west side of the town to the Highway 58 Tennessee River crossing bridge to improve safety for bicyclists, pedestrians, and of course motorists as well.
The new plan includes a roundabout at the entrance to the Roane County High School.
City leaders got together last year several times and held meetings at the community center to review plans and make final arrangements for the master plan to be implemented, which is now ready for funding, which may have to come through state and federal grants.
The bridge-to-bridge Master corridor plan is available for viewing on the Kingston Council agenda, which you can obtain by request at City Hall.
There’s no timeline for when the work may begin, but city leaders hope that it will be soon.
