KINGSTON SEEKING PUBLIC HELP TO SAVE HISTORIC CHAPEL
The City of Kingston is seeking public assistance to save a volunteer-built chapel located at Fort Southwest Point. Because the structure is not historically accurate to the original site, it must be removed before the location can officially transition into a State Park.
While the city hopes to relocate the chapel elsewhere within Kingston rather than seeing it demolished, the initial quotes for moving the building have proven cost-prohibitive.
Officials are now asking the community for leads on affordable contractors or specialists capable of performing this type of relocation work, urging anyone with information to contact the City Manager’s office.
