KNIFE INCIDENT AT BUDGET INN RESULTS IN ARREST IN CROSSVILLE

Cumberland County deputies responded around 2 a.m. today to Budget Inn on Highway 127 South to a disturbance.

The arrest report states the owner returned and saw 51-year-old James Lee Quarry of Crossville and a female sleeping in a vehicle in the parking lot. The owner approached them to ask if they needed a room. The female asked how much. The owner replied and asked if they could pay. They could not, but the owner informed them they were welcome to stay in the vehicle in the parking lot.

As the owner was getting ready for bed, he heard a loud bang in the parking lot. He went outside and was confronted by Quarry, allegedly armed with a knife.

Consent was given to deputies to search the vehicle Quarry was in. The report indicates officers found a large knife under the driver’s seat, matching the description of the weapon used.
