LAND DEAL FOR PROPOSED STATE VETERANS CEMETERY IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY FALLS APART, SEARCH FOR NEW LOCATION UNDERWAY

Officials are starting back up a search for land for the proposed Upper Cumberland State Veterans Cemetery after land deal fell apart in Cumberland County. The 93-acre site would have been off of Cook Road close to I-40. Officials with the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services said the reason for the withdrawal of the land purchase was a difference with the property owner in the price of the land from the initial verbal agreement to later in the phase of the project. Officials say the search will resume in the Upper Cumberland area soon.
