The Roane County School Board took no action last night in regards to purchasing property on Highway 70 across from Roane County Park for a school building project. Interim School Director Gary Aytes asked the board to table the issue until he can go before the Roane County Planning Commission tonight (Wednesday, August 15, 2018). The proposed property would go for $5,200 an acre. The U.S. Department of Rural Development said they would be able to give an estimated 4.3 million dollars towards the project including $450,000 for sewer and water installation and a one million dollar interest free loan to buy the land.
