LAW ENFORCEMENT TO BE OUT IN FORCE NEW YEAR’S EVE LOOKING FOR MOTORISTS UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Many will ring in 2021 this evening but at the same time law enforcement across the state will be out in force to find motorists driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Cumberland County Sheriff Casey Cox told 105.7 News today his deputies will be part of a large scale presence on the roadways starting later this afternoon and into the night.

“We would like to see 2020 get on out of here so we can start fresh with 2021,” said Cox.

“If by chance you choose to decide to drink or drug and drive, there is a very high chance you will be caught. We have already caught two drivers today (as of 11 a.m. December 31, 2020). We will hold you accountable for what I call a stupid or dumb mistake that is very easy to avoid,” added Cox.

“I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and I hope we have a great 2021.”

City, county and the highway patrol in every county in the state will take the same approach this evening.

In the great line from Jackie Gleason in the movie ‘Smokey and the Bandit’….“you can think about it BUT don’t do it!”
