LAWN CARE PROMOTION GOES UP IN SMOKE: NEW SUPERVISOR ARRESTED AFTER RAMPAGE
What was supposed to be a career advancement quickly devolved into a destructive meltdown resulting in the arrest of a local lawn care worker. Christian Stevens is facing vandalism charges following a chaotic chain of events on Homestead Drive that left thousands of dollars in company equipment destroyed.
According to police reports from the Crossville Police Department, the incident began shortly after the owner of Grow With the Flow Lawn Care promoted Stevens to a supervisor position.
The promotion was short-lived. While out on a job site, Stevens allegedly posted a video to his Snapchat story showing himself smoking marijuana inside a company work truck while his crew mowed nearby lawns. Co-workers also reported that Stevens was drinking alcohol on the job.
When the business owner caught wind of the behavior, he called Stevens and informed him he was no longer allowed to drive the company vehicle, sparking a heated argument. Following the phone call, Stevens reportedly flew into a rage and targeted his fellow crew members:
-
Assault Attempts: Stevens allegedly poured water on a co-worker and attempted to punch them for reporting his behavior to the owner.
-
Equipment Destruction: He then turned his anger on the company’s tools, ripping a backpack blower into nine pieces and smashing a weed eater against a telephone pole until the shaft snapped.
-
Arson & Vehicle Hazard: Stevens poured gallons of gasoline onto the ground and attempted to flee in the company truck with the back gate down, dragging it along the road before other employees managed to stop him.
The rampage didn’t end there. When Stevens’ wife arrived at the scene to pick him up, witnesses stated he took a backpack blower and began beating it against her car.
Arrest and Damages
Officer Brittany Price of the Crossville Police Department investigated the incident, reviewing video evidence of the scattered, broken equipment and gas-soaked concrete. Total damages to the salvaged equipment were estimated between $1,600 and $1,800.
A warrant was issued for Stevens for vandalism. He has since been arrested by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
