LEGISLATION WOULD CREATE ‘QUIET ZONES’ ON TENNESSEE WATERWAYS NEAR HOMES

A proposed bill under consideration by the Tennessee General Assembly would create “quiet zones” on state waterways when near a residential home. If passed, the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission would create quiet zones from 9 p.m. until 9 a.m. on state waters near dwellings. It would also prohibiting a person from operating audio emitting devices on watercraft at volumes which can be heard by one or more residential structures located on the land adjacent to the water. Lawmakers will vote soon on the matter.
