LETTER CARRIERS TO HOLD 34TH ANNUAL STAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE TOMORROW

Tomorrow, May 9, 2026, marks the 34th anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive, the largest one-day food drive in the nation. Every year on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the United States, including Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, collect non-perishable food donations left by customers at their mailboxes. These donations are delivered directly to local food pantries to help combat hunger in the communities they serve daily.

Over its more than 30-year history, the drive has collected more than 1.94 billion pounds of food, leveraging the Postal Service’s universal delivery network. The need remains significant, with over 47 million Americans facing food insecurity, including more than 14 million children and nearly 7.4 million seniors over age 60. The timing of the spring drive is especially critical, as food banks and pantries often run low on supplies after the winter holiday donation season, just as school meal programs pause for summer.

Participating is simple: place non-perishable food donations in a bag by your mailbox on Saturday, May 9, and your letter carrier will handle the rest.
