A letter was released by Fentress County Chief Deputy Gary Ledbetter from the sheriff’s department regarding an active FBI and TBI investigation towards Sheriff Chucky Cravens. Ledbetter said that the focus of the investigation is about Cravens and not the sheriff’s department in general. Ledbetter said that in times like this, rumors spread and hurt people, their families and the community. Ledbetter added that the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department is still on the job working 24 hours a day 7 days a week to provide the best law enforcement possible.
