LOCAL LEGEND, ED THE ZEBRA, RETURNED TO OWNERS IN RUTHERFORD COUNTY

An escaped pet zebra named Ed was safely reunited with its owners, Taylor and Laura Ford, after an eight-day search in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Ed, initially reported missing on May 31 after arriving in Christiana on May 30, was first spotted causing disruption near Interstate 24. Deputies temporarily closed lanes for safety.

After several days without sightings, Ed was seen again on June 6 in a field, and on June 8, a Texas-based team, Tango 82, located him in a pasture near Buchanan Estates. He was airlifted by helicopter to an animal shelter, confirmed to be 100% healthy.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency coordinated the rescue, ensuring no injuries occurred.
