The Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) recently sponsored a Soil and Water Stewardship Poster Contest. The theme for this year’s contest was “One Water”. The theme encourages citizens, schools, and communities to think about what a watershed is, how water runs off, how it flows, and how it is used.
Placing first was Cade Coffey in the kindergarten-first grade category and Lily Dowlen in the 2nd-3rd grade category. Cade and Lily attend Pleasant Hill Elementary School. Elisha Neal, North Cumberland Elementary student, placed second in the 4th -6th grade category.
Abby Hazelton placed first in the seventh-ninth grade category and Heidi Melton placed first in the tenth-twelfth grade category. Both Abby and Heidi are students at Stone Memorial High School.
All programs and services of the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District are offered on a nondiscriminatory basis without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status, or handicap.
