LOCAL THIEVES TARGETING HOUSES UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Cumberland County deputies were dispatched on Friday evening after a man’s security camera notified him and took several pictures of an unknown male suspect carrying various building materials and tools from a residence that is under construction. He was unable to tell who the male was, but the suspect returned the following day, giving him a better picture. According to the report, it was possible he came back to steal more items. Investigators have pictures of the male and vehicle but have not been released as this is under investigation.
Deputies were also dispatched to a residence off Daymon Circle for another burglary report Saturday. A man stated he was in the middle of remodeling the residence and arrived that morning and found that the lock on the shed had been ripped off and several items were taken.
A neighbor stated they observed a red S-10 with a metal toolbox in the bed that had pulled into the residence and then left approximately 10 minutes later.
The items that were stolen were a push broom, paint thinner, paint brushes, sealer, metal sawhorses, a step ladder, and miscellaneous tools. The man estimated the value of the stolen items to be around $4,000. This case is under investigation.
It is unknown if these cases are related.
