LOSHBOUGH ARRESTED FOR DUI AFTER STRIKING MAILBOX

While working an unrelated call Sunday night, Cumberland County deputies saw 52-year-old George Osborne Loshbough driving through a ditch on Buck Ridge Road. Deputies reported the vehicle would move slowly along the side of the road in the ditch, then stop and back up. When it eventually struck a mailbox on the 100 block of Buck Ridge Road, deputies approached.

When Loshbough pulled up to where the deputy was standing, with the window open, the deputy could smell a distinct odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.

Loshbough told the deputy he had hit the mailbox. When asked if he’d been drinking, Loshbough told the deputy he had had “too much” to drink.

Loshbough got out of the truck, unsteady on his feet, exhibiting slurred speech and watery eyes. When the deputy asked if he wanted to attempt standard field-sobriety tests, according to the arrest report, Loshbough “told me no and restated that he had drank too much liquor.”

Loshbough was taken into custody for driving under the influence; his vehicle was left at the scene to be retrieved by a family member. Loshbough is due in court April 22.
