MAJOR ACCIDENT ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
DEVELOPING STORY – There is a major accident involving multiple vehicles at the 316 westbound Interstate 40 in Cumberland County. According to TDOT, the scene is expected to clear around 4 PM. Preliminary reports say a black Dodge pickup was traveling east in the westbound lane and collided head on with two tractor-trailers.
DETOUR INFORMATION – If you are heading west through Cumberland County, you can get off at exit 317, get off and head south towards Crossville and turn right on Northside Drive (where Romos and Bojangles is at). From there, proceed on Northside until the traffic light which is Highway 70 North. Turn right and go up 70 North until you see signs for I-40 on the right. Traffic is backing up on the interstate and Main Street in Crossville from the interstate to Northside Drive is heavy with traffic at this time. UPDATE – Both lanes are now opened as of 3:30 pm according to THP
